HISTORY & MISSION

About Racemics

Founded in 1952, Racemics is a non-profit, philanthropic organization dedicated to fostering networking, professional development, education, and charitable giving within the chemical industry.

Our membership is intentionally balanced, consisting of 25 Sales & Marketing professionals and 25 Purchasing professionals representing leading U.S. and global chemical companies, primarily connected to the greater New York metropolitan market. This structure creates a unique environment for collaboration, insight sharing, and relationship building across both sides of the supply chain.

The Racemics Name

The name Racemics is derived from the organic chemistry term racemic, referring to a mixture of equal parts of optical isomers—mirror images of one another.

This concept reflects our organization’s foundation: equal representation and mutual respect between sales and purchasing professionals, working together to strengthen the industry.

Racemics fulfills its mission through:

  • Monthly meetings that include both internal business sessions and open events with guest participation
  • Industry-focused programming, featuring expert speakers and relevant market discussions
  • Networking events, including our annual golf outing and holiday luncheon
  • Philanthropic initiatives, most notably supporting students and educational programs through partnerships such as the Chemical Education Foundation (CEF)

Through these efforts, Racemics continues to build meaningful connections, support the next generation of industry professionals, and give back to the broader chemical community.
